Suzanne Somers' former "Step by Step" co-stars remembered the late actress fondly during a reunion at 90s Con over the weekend.
"Step by Step" stars Patrick Duffy, Staci Keanan, Angela Watson, Christine Lakin, Christopher Castile, Jason Marsden and Sasha Mitchell reunited for the first time in years at the Connecticut Convention Center on Sunday, reminiscing about Somers in light of her death in October. The family sitcom aired for seven seasons from 1991 to 1998.
"Suzanne gave the most beautiful, thoughtful gifts and she was a person of immense style and glamour in her real life, and I will never forget (that) and I still have them," Keanan, 48, said, per People, noting that one of her gifts included a pair of Prada tights. "(It was) so sweet. She will be missed."
Lakin, 45, opened up about the way Somers gave her hope when it came to her career aspirations. "Growing up with her and watching her as a woman, as a businesswoman, as someone who was a huge star who had a bright light, who was so gorgeous, who was also so down to Earth and someone I just really admired," she said. "She was someone that made me think as a young female in Hollywood, you can be kind and you can be generous and you can be successful and all of those things don't have to be mutually exclusive."
"Her heart was so big, and we really miss her," Lakin added.
Suzanne Somers:Late 'Three's Company' star died after breast cancer spread to brain
Somers, best known for her role as Chrissy Snow on the ABC sitcom “Three’s Company,” died Oct. 15. The actress, who "survived an aggressive form" of breast cancer for over 23 years, "passed away peacefully at home," Somers' longtime publicist R. Couri Hay shared in a statement on behalf of her family.
"Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family," the statement continued. "Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on Oct. 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly."
The actress was first diagnosed in 2000 and had previously battled skin cancer. Somers faced some backlash for her reliance on what she'd described as a chemical-free and organic lifestyle to combat the cancers. She argued against the use of chemotherapy, in books and on platforms like "The Oprah Winfrey Show," which drew criticism from the American Cancer Society.
